GW: Well, it's a very common one and that is never give up. I mean by the time I got to Bad
Monkey, I'd tried lots of other labels. I've been in touch with other labels and it's just finding the
right thing that works for you and I was lucky, and I found that. But yes, I think it was good during
lockdown, a lot of people did, took time out to reassess their position and it really made me think
as an independent artist, where I go next and where I've looked at a record label in the past and
then I’ve thought, right, well, I'll try and do everything myself. It's very difficult to manage, to
book all the gigs, to do it, get all the PR out, do all the marketing, the website and so on yourself,
but you do. But yes, during lockdown and through this course Talent is Timeless, that really
helped. So maybe that could be a starting point. If you're over the age of 50, then maybe looking
at Talent is Timeless could be a starting point to resurrect your career, you never know.
BiTS: I did an interview with, I won't name him, but a guitar player in South Wales a couple of
weeks ago and he’s got no management
and he organises 300 gigs a year by
himself. How he does that I just do not
know.
GW: Well, that takes some doing
[laughing].
BiTS: Certainly does. Let’s move on to the
album. First of all, it's called what?
GW: Well, it hasn't got a confirmed name
yet.
BiTS: Oh, I see.
GW: Yes, it's nearly there, but it's not
quite. I’m waiting for Bad Monkey to come
back to me. We've got the list of tracks and
I think they're going to run with the tracks
that we've said in the order they've said.
They're looking at the artwork and once
they've done that, then they were just
going to confirm the title.
BiTS: And so far you've issued, I think two, maybe three singles?
GW: Yes, that's right.
BiTS: Have they been well received?
GW: Yes, we've had lots of airplay around the world and plenty of feedback. And so the record
label sort of manage all that side and keep me updated on how it's going and they're very pleased
with the response they’ve had to my music.
BiTS: Has the making of the album, been a lengthy process, I mean, has it gone in dribs and
drabs? You’ve gone into the studio and do a couple of tracks and then leave it for a while and
then go back or what?
GW: It’s a real mixture because with signing with the record label what we did we took all of my
music offline and then sort of put it back out under the Bad Monkey Records label. But this
particular album is a mixture of tracks, some have previously been recorded, some are brand
new. It's a real mixture so you'll find on the album some tracks that have been put out before
