kind of as skeletons and he would kind of experiment with certain things during live
shows when we perform them. We've had a lot of different sidemen before, a lot of
different band configurations before this one, so we had a lot of opportunity to craft

them over the years. But ‘Hurry Up’ was one that was the least rehearsed and crafted,
and it just kind of came together in the studio really nicely.

BiTS: Did you go back into the studio and do any overdubbing or anything like that,

or is it all as it was done in the studio?

SS: All of the drums tracks were done in the studio. Almost all of the bass and all of
Rob's keys stayed on the studio. I overdubbed a few bass parts on ‘Cringe’ and vocals

on ‘This Time’, the Michael Darby song, and Rob overdubbed vocals at Esplanade
Studios, and Alex put in some more guitar tracks.

BiTS: I have to say that I think that what

you're doing is absolutely fabulous. I really
enjoy it. It was a huge surprise to me to hear
a group of musicians like yourselves, people

who would classify themselves as sidemen,
taking a front role like you have been, and I
think it's absolutely fabulous. I've made your

album my album of the week on my radio
show and it's going to be played again and
again, I can tell you that for nothing.

SS: Oh, that's really delightful to hear. Thank
    you.

BiTS: Now tell me what does the future hold

for you? Have you got big stuff coming up at
all? What about Mardi Gras next year?
The joys of a gigging bassman
SS: Well, you know, in the spirit of gravity
[laughs], and also, like I said, an
experimentation, you know, we recorded the album, and I didn't want to put a lot
of things on, a lot of expectations on anybody. I wanted to make sure that we stuck

to the essence of what we were trying to do, which is record good music, play good
music, share it, and capture. As far as beyond that, I'm not sure. There's a lot of things

that would be nice. Like, it would be nice to do a lot more festival gigs and tour for
weeks at a time. Touring much more than weeks at a time is not something that
seems so feasible with Alex about to have a kid soon and Rob having two kids
already. But if the demand – I’m not sure if we're ever going to be Instagram famous

[chuckles]. It seems like the only bands I see touring at that level are people who
have really kind of gone viral, or they really hit a chord with people. We love the

music, and I think it really hits a chord with people who listen to it but I feel also
like the popularity of a lot of bands and musicians is a lot more manufactured by
