recording. Then the drummer is Dick Cordes, and he's played with a lot of people.
He's played with a lot of people around town and also just bigger acts too. I can't
remember who, but he's been around a long time too. Both of these guys are a little
older than I am.
BiTS: Where did you make the album, in the studio?
AB: Yeah, the studio. A studio in Arlington. It's called, what is it called? Zig
Productions is the name. The guy’s
name is Billy Herzig.
BiTS: When you went to the
studio were all the songs written,
or did you do stuff while you were
there?
AB: Oh no, they were all written.
I basically put this together
because I hardly ever get a chance
to play with the trio, with the band
anymore because most places
don’t want to pay for it, so I mostly
play solo. But we had a gig for a
couple of years, that ended about
a year ago because they just
decided to downsize and I've been
doing it solo and duo lately. It was
a barbecue joint in Deep Ellum,
and they had us as a band. We'd be
there at least like once a month. So
I've been writing songs for just
what I do around solo and stuff,
but we’re playing together right now, and I like this with the drums and the harmonica.
BiTS: Apart from a couple of tracks, which are covers, Blind Lemon and Robert
Johnson, you wrote all the rest of the stuff yourself?
AB: Yes. Yes, I wrote all the stuff except for the last three songs. Yeah.
BiTS: Tell me how you go about writing a song, Aaron.
AB: Well, let's see here. I'm usually just playing around. I usually start with the
guitar part and then I go back in and find lyrics to fit with a lick I've messed in with
on the guitar. So I'm a music first guy usually.
BiTS: And does lyric writing come naturally to you? Are you a poetry writer?
