❖ A brief overview of the project
Project Title – Development of end to end strategy for
reduction of slow-moving inventory.
MCC has 27 stores Pan India. At any given time, there are
about 7000 SKUs available for sale. Out of these there are
about 200-300 SKUs which are slow moving and are hence
stuck at the stores. This is turn reduces inventory turnover,
blocks working capital, increases the inventory holding costs
while damaging the customer perception about MCC.
My project was to identify this slow-moving inventory at each
store and suggest targeted measures to reduce this slow-
moving inventory by 50% over a 6month period. I
collaborated with Procurement, supply chain, operations,
finance and even marketing to understand the root cause of

A typical day starts at about 10 am with meeting my mentor
BTech: NIT, Surat
and discussing what needs to be done on that particular day.
He used to introduce me to someone I needed to coordinate

with. This was followed by some mails and data crunching on
Work Ex: Fresher my desk. Post lunch I used to meet people from different team
and discuss the problems along with actions needed to be taken. I would also connect with people outside HO
over call or Skype. After this, I would meet my mentor again for discussing the progress made and finalising
some agenda for next day. The final hour in the evening was spent with co interns in what we named as ‘Interns
Adda’ discussing their projects and playing Table Tennis.
❖ What are the challenges faced during Internship?
I would say the most challenging thing was understanding the scope of the project as it involved me
collaborating with everyone across departments and develop an action plan keeping all the constraints in mind.
❖ What did you do right and what did you do wrong?
The thing I got right was understanding the business sense of my project. How slow-moving inventory is a
problem for MCC, how it affects the financials and where do we stand in respect to the competitors. I spent
