A tall, skinny decaf Latte, please.
She shouts his order to the BARISTA.
COFFEE GIRL
(with a sneer)
Tall, skinny decaf Latte!!
TERRY pays and moves to the end of the counter.
TERRY casts a quick glance at an ATTRACTIVE GIRL. From
her angle we see he’s gawping at her, his mouth open,
lechery on his face.
She frowns. He snaps out of it and looks away.
BARISTA
Tall, skinny decaf Latte!
She puts as much scorn into the word ‘decaf’ as is
possible.
TERRY picks up his coffee. It burns his fingers.
The BARISTA smiles, and slips a cardboard heat sheath
around his cup.
BARISTA (CONT'D)
(from up North) GORGEOUS
Careful, pet. These skinny decafs can be
a real handful.
EXT. COFFEE SHOP. SOHO - DAY
TERRY blows the tips of his burnt fingers.
INT. PRICE, DICKINSON, FULLER. RECEPTION - DAY
TERRY’s loose sole slaps on the white, marbled floor as
he crosses the lobby of the Advertising Agency where he works. (He’s a ‘below the line’ copywriter. He’s
responsible for the unglamorous small ads in the back of trade magazines.)
It reeks of prosperity.
The pretty young RECEPTIONIST smiles and waves to TERRY. Surprised, he looks around in case she beckoning someone else. TERRY smiles and heads to the monumental Reception desk, maybe today his luck is going to change.
RECEPTIONIST Can you sign in please.
