EU project „Sexual Violence – Educational and Prevention
Program Online“
Through the education of educational staff and students about prevention of sexual violence,
"Ženska soba" strives to create a safe environment for young people by developing an online
educational platform (SNEP) and raising awareness about sexual violence. The platform
includes the SNEP program, the sexual violence prevention program for secondary schools, as
well as sections for parents, teachers and professional associates with the aim of getting to the
information you are interested in as quickly and easily as possible.
The importance of recognizing different forms of violence, including sexual violence, as well
as the importance of taking action if sexual violence occurs, is being emphasized more and
more. The SNEP platform offers the opportunity to learn more about sexual violence (in the
family, in adolescent relationships, electronic sexual violence), its forms and consequences, the
prevalence and reasons for not reporting it, the prejudices surrounding sexual violence and what
to do in case of its occurrence. Access to this information is crucial for educators, in order to
know what to do if their students experience some kind of sexual violence. By including in the
education "Sexual violence against and among children and young people" as part of the
implementation of the project "Sexual violence - online educational and preventive program
(SNEP Online Tool)", educational workers will receive greater knowledge about the topic, more
opportunities to introduce this preventive program in their curricula and better readiness to
implement programs in their institutions with the aim of actively involving students in the
prevention of sexual violence. With the listed activities, there is a greater possibility of
influencing a positive outcome in case sexual violence occurs in a close environment.
Many people are not well acquainted with recognizing the problem of sexual violence against
and among children and how such an event can negatively affect the mental health of children
and young people. They are also not familiar with how and when to react and who to turn to for
help. Prejudices about the causes of sexual violence against and among children are ubiquitous.
Therefore, it is of great importance that education about sexual violence is carried out in as
many educational institutions as possible, and in this way timely help young people in their
most vulnerable years.
