System dynamics modeling of agricultural land conversion in

Abstract. The purpose of this study is to design a sub-model as a policy strategy alternative in
controlling agricultural land conversion. Method applied to achieve this goal is the system
dynamics methodology which is a modeling approach based on systemic thinking and uses
perspectives based on information feedback and delay to understand the complex behavior
dynamics of physical, biological, and social systems, which occur in agriculture land
conversion. The model formulation was carried out using Vensim DSS software, followed by
simulation. As result, six main sub-models were obtained to be applied in the design process of
control models for the transfer of function of agricultural land in Aceh Besar District which
consisted of population sub-model, settlement sub-model, industrial sub-model, rice field sub-
model, forest and field sub-model, and rice stock sub-model.
