Preface
This Interactive Learning Module for Social Science 112: Personal Development is aligned with the
competencies of the K – 12 Basic Education Curriculum set by the Department of Education. This module is
st
designed interactively to cater the needs and demands of the 21 century education.
This course, as stipulated in the curriculum guide, makes senior high school students aware of the
developmental stage that they are in, for them to better understand themselves and the significant people
around them as they make important career decisions as adolescents. The course consists of modules, each of
which addresses a key concern in personal development. Using the experiential learning approach, each
module invites students to explore specific themes in their development. Personal reflections, sharing, and
lectures help reveal and articulate relevant concepts, theories, and tools in different areas in psychology
The lessons are divided into two major components: the first quarter will focus on knowing the self, one has to
exemplify the value of cura personalis. When there is self-awareness, it is easier to understand the personality/
behavior of others and accept their strengths and weaknesses as well. The second half of the quarter will
venture on personal relationships in which it allows the students to develop the compassion as they learn how
to appropriately express their love and concern for others. On the other hand, the second quarter of the course
will journey the learners to the literature of the world.
To facilitate academic performance, Written Works (WW) are given to make sure learners can
express skills and content in written form. Performance Tasks (PT) let learners translate knowledge and skills
in diverse and real-life learning situations, finally, Quarterly Examinations (QE) will measure learning at the
end of every quarter.
