27. BELLARMINE JUG. 8.4 ins tall, delicious ‘classic’ mid brown salt glaze - real ‘tiger glaze’ look. Bulbous body, rear handle. Posssibly Frenchen c. 1620-50? Atypical grumpy looking applied front face below a collared lip. Applied coat of arms cartouche below. Lots of character, superb in manufacture flaws/ kiln touch marks, affixed/ crudely made. A few minor base nibbles do not detract - see extra images on easyliveauction.com. A fine example
of its type. (9/10) NR £250-300+
28. BELLARMINE JUG. 8.1ins tall, an extremely varied
salt glaze on this one - ranging from that delightful light grey in two distinct stripes down each side right through to varies brown hues. Bulbous body, rear handle. Applied bearded face & belly cartouche. Usual in firing blemishes/ flaws. This example heavily restored - see close up images on easylive - but an affordable example of a ‘classic’ pottery form of great age? (5-6/10) NR £60-80+
29. ranges from very dark browns to light. Standard bulbous body this one more squat/ fatter than previous two lots, rear handle.
Applied large bearded face with three floral belly cartouches. Usual infiring blemishes/ flaws. This too heavily restored - see close up images on easylive - another affordable example of a ‘classic’

30. BELLARMINE JUG. 6.3ins tall, bulbous
body, rear handle, an unusually even range of brown salt glaze. A very crude/ misshapen applied face sprig.
Lip & bottom edge nibbles, handle repaired. A fairly scarce size. (7/10) NR £120- 150+
31. BELLARMINE JUG. 5.2ins tall. The smallest of this grouping (rare size), a very varied salt glaze - dark to light, rear handle, applied face sprig. Handle & lip poorly repaired, reglued lower section - could be better done. (4/10) NR £50-60+
