RESEARCH REPORT
National Golf Day
The National Allied Golf Associations (NAGA) will be leading the rst “National Golf Day” on May 28 & 29th at the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa. There will be 20 Canadian Golf Industry Leaders from across the country (representing all of the NAGA partners) converging to the nation’s capital for a fun and informal recep- tion on Monday evening, followed by in-per- son meetings with over 40 Senators and MPs throughout the day on Tuesday. To accompany this event, the front lawn on parliament hill will be reserved for the golf industry to invite a large group of local junior golfers to come out
to enjoy a variety of golf activities and showcase the excitement of our sport.
The message of this event is to highlight that golf is a huge contributor to the Canadian econo- my and a viable business that employs thousands of Canadians. We will showcase the bene ts of the golf industry, including the direct and indirect economic impact of the golf industry, the em- ployment opportunities across all provinces, the fundraising impact for thousands of not-for-pro t organizations annually, and of course the health aspect of the game to those who play.
With the Canadian Consumer Con dence Index at the highest rate over the past decade and low national unemployment rates, the current economic indicators are looking good for the golf industry as we head into 2018 golf season.
