Embedding videos to your web- site adds another layer of emotion, as you are depicting scenarios that will appeal to potential golfers, such as what it feels like to putt on the 18th hole or drive off the rst tee.
Each course has characteristics that makes it unique and appeal- ing to golfers. Consider investing in professional pictures or video to ensure high quality content is be- ing uploaded to your website.
EASY TO NAVIGATE
A website that is user friendly and easy to navigate is essential. The key to an easy to navigate site is a good menu.
A website menu should have all your most important pages in the main menu and less important pages in the submenus below the main menu. Review your website analytics to determine your most important pages. This data will show you what pages are being
visited the most and then you can prioritize these in your menu. If you don’t have analytics on your website, look up Google Analytics and add it today.
Naming pages appropriately and organizing pages into proper menu categories is also important. If you have information about each of your golf course holes on your “About Us” page, it is unlikely visi- tors will nd it.
The ‘Sticky Menu’ is a newer technique that many websites are using. This is where your top menu will appear at the top of your screen, even as you scroll down the page. This makes it very simple for users to get to another page on your site when they’re done looking at the current page.
All of the important content on your website should be no more than one or two clicks away from the homepage. If a potential golfer has to dig deeper than that, they
probably aren’t going to nd what they’re after and will likely leave your website.
QUALITY CONTENT
Quality content is key. You need to understand your audience, and provide them with the information they expect to nd on your web- site. This content should be concise and easy to consume. The use of infographics or lists can help you portray information and ideas in an easy to read format.
The information you have on your website has to be up-to-date. If your events list only contains events that happened in the past, your blog’s latest article is from a year ago, or your promos are long expired, this leaves a bad impression in the eyes of your potential golfer.
It is important to review your website content often, I recommend at least weekly, to ensure everything on your site is relevant.
