3. Leaves

►Functions of the plant leaves:
(Leaves make food for the plant through photosynthesis process)
•Leaves need water, carbon dioxide gas and sunlight to make food.
•Leaves contain Chlorophyll, which gives them their green color.
- Chlorophyll captures energy from the sunlight.
(Xylem carries water from the roots to the stem, then to the leaves through smaller xylem
tubes)
-Chlorophyll in plant's leaves has an important role in photosynthesis process.(G.R)
Because chlorophyll absorbs the energy of sunlight that helps the plant to make
photosynthesis.
•What happens if...?
-Plant's leaves don't contain chlorophyll.
The plant can't absorb the energy of sunlight and can't make photosynthesis.

►There are two types of leaves:

Narrow leaves that look like needle Flat wide leaves: such as water lily
such as pine tree leaves. leaves.
►There are two types of vessels:

Xylem Phloem

Transports the nutrients and the water Transports food materials (that are made
from the root to stem and leaves. during photosynthesis process) inside
leaves to other parts of the plant.
(There are smaller vessels of xylem that
connect the stem to the leaves)
