is net sales so it doesn’t include the fact that Amazon only pays you a percentage of that number based on your Kindle or Paperback royalty rate.
How do you calculate sales and profit?
The general royalty rate is usually 70% for Kindle and 60% for Paper- back. The 60% for the paperback doesn’t include the cost of printing your book, which changes based on page count and other paperback factors.
So how can you figure out how much your ads actually made for a period of time?
Use the Reports tab on the KDP platform to see actually how much you can expect Amazon to deposit into your account for a period of time.
Using the AMS dashboard for Spend and the KDP Reports Dashboard for sales are the quickest way to get the most accurate view of what your lead generation funnel is costing you. Your KDP report will show both sales from the ads along with any organic sales you get. Obviously if you have your book listed as free, you won’t be collecting any royalties from your book and don’t need to worry about the KDP report.
How do you read the AMS Dashboard?
Your AMS dashboard has a chart that shows you a variety of custom- izable metrics.
You’ll get a version of this chart for your whole account, each individ- ual campaign, and each individual ad group. Since this is the streamlined way to view and optimize your ads, we are going to be using this data to make decisions on your ads.
Once you make tweaks to your campaigns, you’ll want to wait a full 30 days in order to then make further adjustments on your dashboard.
