As an African American woman, Sojourner-Truth
understood that her life mattered! Additionally, she
also learned the importance of speaking the truth at all
times. Combining Sojourner-Truths experiences
presents a vision of strength, honesty, and endurance,
during the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
Sojourner-Truth was, in many ways, New York's
first Black Lives Matter activist!
As a Christian light shining in the darkness of wealth,
and immorality, she desired freedom and justice.
Interestingly, Sojourner-Truth had much to say about
her New York years with the notorious American
Prophet Matthias! During their time together,
Sojourner-Truth witnessed Prophet Matthias gave
himself different names or titles; one such self-
appointed title was, quote, 'the spirit of truth.'
When he and Isabella eventually parted company, she,
after experiencing an epiphany, began calling herself
Sojourner-Truth.
In hindsight, we all have the opportunity to learn from
the experiences which some influential God-fearing
Americans endured as they attempted to live in a brave
new world!
