and friends, along with his wife and children, that he

is, quote. 'Solemnly giving his wife to the hands of

Matthias for now and in the future.'

Curiously as he renounces his wife and dissolves their

marriage, he referred to Ann by her maiden name of

Disbrow. From this point onwards, Ann is no longer

married to Benjamin; she is, however, mother of the

house and the future mother of the son that will be

known as quote 'the holy one.'

Walking into Mount Zion, at least three people are

happy with the announcements. Confused and

heartbroken, clearly Benjamin is not one of them.

Standing in the hallway of his own home, Benjamin

wants desperately to talk, as he cries out, quote

'Ann, Ann, Ann,' but she continues to avoid him at

every turn. According to Sojourner-Truth, Benjamin

then tries to take Ann by the hand, after which we are

informed, quote.
