Our last evening in San Jose was over a Burmese dinner in company
of my second son, Marco and of my grandson Oliver who had just returned
from UK. They were slightly jetlag and a little anxious as Oliver had just tak-
en his entrance exam to Sevenoaks. Will he follow the footsteps of his father
and brother? … the plot thickens? Coincidentally, in harmony with the theme
of Jo’s visit, i.e. … ‘the awareness of Ukraine’, Pascal was out that evening
with his ‘’Thursday Night Motorcycle Defenders’ … all in support of Ukraine.
Yet another superb and sun- ny morning and to-day, Friday, we are on our way to
Sacramento where to-morrow we shall be attending the ‘BPW California
North District’ Conference. It will start at 10:00am but San Jose being ap-
proximately a three hours drive from Sacramento, it is best to leave the day
before. We arrived there mid-afternoon, checked in a hotel
close to where the conference will be (nothing to write home
about ... so I won’t), we had a fun dinner in a place called
‘Texas Roadhouse’ … the logo will give you the feeling! All very rustic!
We are now Saturday: Conference Day! I introduced everyone to Jo who received a
very warm welcome. Here I should leave the photos speak for themselves:

memory of her very special visit career and contribution to BPW.
Following the conference, Jo and I parted with some nostalgia, knowing that we shall
meet again soon when I shall revisit Europe. She is now about to start the second part of
her visit in the welcoming and very capable hands of Bessie Hironimus.
