Page 10 - BPW UK ANNUAL REVIEW 2021-2022 - PART I and II
P. 10
This group was convened following the AGM in June 2021 under the leadership of one of
the five vice presidents elected within the interim constitution.
Members are at the heart of everything that BPW does.
The aims of the group were (a) to keep the current members well informed and active
and (b) to develop a recruitment strategy and action plan.
MEMBERSHIP STRATEGY
Members are at the heart of everything that BPW does. Good communication is at the
heart of and cuts across all our work streams. Providing for on-going two way dialogue is cru-
cial. It is important for BPW to provide effective, accessible communication mechanisms, to
build strong relationships and to keep members informed on the issues that matter to them.
This membership strategy is designed to support the current membership as well as to
grow the membership. Effective communication is central to the successful delivery of this
strategy and action plan.
The task of recruitment is enormous. No one person can do it alone. A team of people is
needed in the first instance to develop a recruitment strategy and action plan. But every single
member can also take responsibility for recruitment – just one new member per person will
double out membership instantly. If we believe in our organisation, we will achieve.
Aims of the Strategy
To keep the current members well informed and active
To develop a recruitment strategy and plan to grow BPW UK’s membership
Scope of the Strategy
There needs to be strong internal communication as well as strategic targeting and con-
sistency of message to external groups, communities, businesses etc.
Internal communication should be both:
Up and down between different officers and members, either individuals or groups
Across all members
Principles of the Strategy
Communication should reflect the core values of BPW; this applies to all forms of communi-
cation, whether written or verbal
Communication mechanisms should be equally accessible to all, they should not exclude any
individual or group.
