MEF Additional Notes

You will find below short notes describing the seven organisations supported by MEF last year.

We sent messages to all our trustees asking them to nominate organisations - not necessarily
registered charities - which they considered to be within the guidelines given by the Charity Commis-
sion when the rules for MEF were changed, as below:

"Based on the supporting information you have provided we can provide the formal consent
from the Charity Commission to amend the charity's objects to read:

THE OBJECTS OF THE FUND SHALL BE TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO
MEMBERS OF BPW UK DURING TIMES OF NEED, OR PROVIDE DONATIONS/GRANTS
TO OTHER WOMENS’ ORGANISATIONS WITH SIMILAR CHARITABLE OBJECTIVES".

You will see from the descriptions, that not all areas of the UK were covered - not because we
didn't want to, but because we did not receive any nominations.

You will also remember from our MEF AGM that the trustees were asked to consider assistance
for our international members in the Federation of Ukraine. We consider that the possibility of
providing this help is covered by the wording - other Womens' Organisations with similar charitable
objectives and will be assisting with a grant once the formal application is received.

Finally, we like to emphasize that MEF trustees deal with all applications quickly and confiden-
tially in the case of our UK members.



Regarding the CLAIM FORM below:

The trustees are very aware that it needs condensing, especially in that there is no longer a re-
quirement for BPW members to contribute to the Fund.
Prior to be published once again on the BPW website such modifications are presently being
made.
