When?
The campaign to raise awareness launches internationally on Monday 10 April
2023
Where?
Online - everywhere. BPW members and the broader public (women in particular)
are invited to participate in the pledging initiative by taking a picture/video of them-
selves holding an image of the planet and posting the picture along with a sustaina-
bility pledge for the year ahead.
Offline – clubs are encouraged to organise outdoor activities on Earth Day. Exam-
ples of activities for BPW members could be planting trees together or organising a
local clean-up and documentation of illegally dumped waste (in the style of World
Clean-up Day).
How?
Promotion through:
• Social media, BPW websites and groups, mailing lists and networks.
The first, most important step is for BPW members and clubs to make
their pledges from Monday 10 April 2023 onwards by posting their own
videos and/or photos on social media to popularise the movement and create
visibility for our hashtags. (You can send photos to me at
ros.winningways@googlemail.com and I can convert them into a social media
image, as well as post them.)
We hereby invite BPW board members and team leaders to be the first ones to
post their video/photo pledges, thus inspiring others to join!
The image/video should be posted on to social media (Facebook and/or Insta-
gram) along with the pledge:
“I promise to……..”, or “Holding the Earth by…”,
• Use the hashtags:
#HoldingTheEarth, #WomenForMotherEarth, #EarthDayPledge, #GreenBPW.
