2010 was also a year of reform within the UN when the General Assembly created
UN Women, short for the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of
Women, merging the work of the four previously distinct parts of the UN.

In both 2016 and 2017 BPW International awarded 10 registration scholarships to
Young BPW members to attend the Leaders Summit. An extra 10 were gifted by
Mrs Lisa Lin together with her Foundation.

Also, Mrs Lin donated 130.000 US Dollars to the Project Five’0 Nursing school in
La Paz, Mexico to cover the cost of completing the construction of a much - need-
            ed auditorium.
Yasmin Darwich and Amany Asfour visited the UK to agree a Memorandum of
Understanding with the Royal Society of Public Health and attend the Houses of
            Parliament.

In 2017, Amany Asfour was elected as the first woman from Egypt and the Arab
            world as International President.

The 2020 International Congress was scheduled to be in Orlando USA but Covid
changed that. At first postponed and eventually cancelled, it became our first
online General Assembly on Zoom in March 2021.However, there was not enough
time for the presentation, debate and voting on the Resolutions and Constitutio-
            nal Amendments online.

Throughout the whole period of our history we need to remember all the excel-
lent speakers, great events, the hours of work and tremendous efforts especially
our place at the UN that have contributed to making this organisation a force for
women – too much to recall here but a source of pride for us all.
