ACROSS THE POND

Ten years have already passed since I left UK and moved to America to be closer
to my family. Quite a change from bustling cosmopolitan London where I used to
live, to a much quieter San Jose California, albeit with a very international popu-
lation, something I dearly appreciate. And yes, it is true, very predictably a most
radiant sun shows up every morning and the palm trees
happily sway constantly under the most beautiful blue sky,

… it is unavoidable!

Having said that, apart from the joy of being united with my sons and being
‘supreme chauffeur’ to my two grandsons and their multi activities (they are now
13 and 11) it was wonderful to discover BPW California, and more precisely the
BPW Berkeley Club.

Unfortunately it is a little far from my home: two hours each way to attend meet-
ings but, as it turned out, zooming became a blessing, thus giving me the chance
to know its very welcoming members much better.

2022 is also the year when we put all our efforts together to celebrate the

Centennial of the Berkeley Business and Professional Women’s Club.

1922-2022

Our early preparatory meetings started mid-March, at the rhythm of once a week
to cover all aspects of this event and, in a fraternal spirit, Jo suggested that
I forward the digital brochure marking this event which took place on the
21st May 2022.

In parallel to the brochure we also had a very well synchronized Audio program,
during which our Guest Speakers delivered excellent and encouraging messages,
giving room also to young Awardees that the Club recognizes each year for their
enterprising spirit and managing ability.
