P. 14

Young BPW: Bryn Norrie, Virtual, was not in attendance as she could not get off from work,
but she sent a video. She joined BPW at 17 years of age as an intern. Everywhere she turns
since then BPW has been there for her. She wants BPW to partner more with other women’s
organizations and especially with young women’s organizations.

Treasurer: Dr. Joanne Carfioli Naylor is a speech language pathologist. She is originally from
Pennsylvania, but she is representing North Carolina, where she worked last. She is a 20-year-
member of BPW. She was originally a member of Corpus Christi, Texas. In 2017 she was a Vir-
tual Club member. She has experience with QuikBooks and Wild Apricot. She prepared budgets
         for North Carolina BPW.
Secretary: Nermin K. Ahmad said she fell into BPW because to be a United Nations delegate,
she had to be a member of BPW. She is President of New York City BPW until January. Her
presentation was very short – maybe a minute.

2nd Vice President Advocacy: (there were two candidates) Sue Oser, Michigan BPW, said that
most of what she had done on the national and international is advocacy. BPW has become her
fertile field for growth. She would like coordination with other organizations for equality. She
would like to include women who have not previously been included – e.g. Native American
         women.
Emily VanVleck, New York City BPW, is currently the Young BPW representative. She is Vice
President of the New York City BPW. She started as an intern. She jumped into the Afghan Pro-
ject with Nermin. She represented young women at the United Nations including attending a
meeting in Nigeria earlier this year. She was the Period Poverty Chair. She has plans to expand
Daneene Rusnak’s (previously 2nd Vice President for Advocacy) work. Advocacy also is with
candidates for political office. She wants to have coalitions with other organizations including
joining the national period poverty coalition.
1st Vice President Membership: Maria DeSousa, California BPW, sent a video, but was also on
Zoom to answer questions. She has received mentorship from BPW members. She is passionate
about empowering women in the business and professional world. She wants targeted member-
ship recruitment. She would harness Social Media. She would host virtual events.

President: (there were two candidates) Barbara Bozeman, Virtual, is a military veteran and a
small business owner. She said she had helped many in the room. She would be a good stew-
ard for BPW. She wants to enhance every member’s NFBPWC experience. In every conference
bag, she put a rock to show the mosaic of BPW’s future. She pointed out that she is 6’2” tall so
         cannot be missed.
Kathy Kelly, Colorado BPW, has been a member of BPW for 30 years. She grew up under the
flight path of LAX. She was abused at least ten times as a child. She has had BPW sisters be-
hind her to help her. NFBPWC grew 70 percent during the past two years when she was 1st
Vice President for Membership. Part of the growth may be because the Equal Rights Amend-
ment has not been ratified. She said that we need to elevate BPW by kindness. Members give
their time freely with openness and kindness. “Never forget to be kind!”

Nominating Chair has to be nominated from the floor.

After the ten minute break, they asked for questions on the Bylaws changes and the Advocacy
Platform. There were no questions. These will be voted on at the Assembly on Saturday. Bylaws
Chair Trudy Waldroop and member of the Bylaws Committee read the proposed Policies and
Procedures. There were a couple of changes and then the Policies and Procedures were ap-
         proved with the two amendments.

President Megan said members need to think about how they can serve. Sandy Thompson won
the 50/50 drawing of $158. The Board meeting adjourned at 7:23 California time.
