P. 29
In November BPW UK introduced a new type of supporter for BPW called ‘Friend Of ‘and I’m
delighted to say that the very first person to take up that role is our very own John Spurrier
Davies, widower of Lorna, who both have supported BPW in so many ways over all the years.
Look for him in the photo above.
On a serious note, we have debated in our Zoom sessions and gathered information about a
topic that has been troubling us for a little while and we submitted a motion for debate at
the Annual Conference in March 2023 asking the UK Government to make misogyny a hate
crime. BPW Northern Ireland seconded the motion and it has been accepted by the Advocacy
group. We are continuing work on the supporting information to present at Conference.
Finally, I wanted to share something that struck me earlier this year when I attended a BPW
International Leadership seminar via Zoom. One of the key messages I’ve taken away is that
women out there still need our support and encouragement. Women in business and profes-
sional life often feel isolated, under pressure and lacking in self confidence. Sad though that
makes me, it also gives me confidence that BPW still has a role to play in women’s lives - we
just need to make them aware of what we offer.
Here’s to continuing to Being Positive Women in 2023! ▪
