“Mr. Acosta, let me point out that Section 2 of the Constitution states that the House of Representatives is composed of members ‘chosen every second year by the people of the several States.’ Note that the word several refers to Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut,
New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Eleven states. Not 20 states, not 40 states, certainly not the 49 states we have today.”
“If that were not bad enough, Mr. Acosta, the Constitution writers were terrible spellers. This will come as no surprise to you, but the president wants to know why chuse and encreased are spelled correctly and quorum and emoluments are not. The president believes that a spelling conspiracy perpetrated by the Democrats and fake news media has already destroyed our Constitution, so let’s put an end to the con job.”
“Ms. Sanders, follow up, if I may.” “No more questions today.”
