 Acknowledgments
First, I am indebted in the most appalling way possible to the man
who began his official invasion and occupation of the country’s heart and soul on January 20, 2017. He has inspired a heretofore untapped reservoir of resistance in many of us, and he transformed me into a digital pamphleteer — just when I was thinking that Barack and Michelle Obama had done a pretty damned good job moving that heart and soul from 1860 into the 21st Century.
I am also thankful to my baby boomer friend and college roommate, Nancy Hersage, for reminding me that I still have a few things of importance to say and the temerity to say them.
Larry Lamb’s grasp of minutia helped animate the prose and imagery. During the 12-month task, he also cooked breakfast every morning and acted as my chauffeur, for which I am eternally grateful. A few other unnamed friends (for the sake of privacy) kept me supplied with perspective, encouragement and wine. Had I included names, the list would have been partial; may those not on it know how grateful I am to them, too.
Contrary to the Occupant’s remarks about the “Radical Left-Wing Media” which are the “enemy of the people” and “so wrong” about everything, all of the events on these pages were taken from real news To all journalists working tirelessly in pursuit of Truth, along with the families of those reporters who died doing their democratic duty, there are no words to express how highly I value this sacred work. As New York Times international editor, Michael Slackman, wrote recently, “What if no one were watching?”
