Another front-runner was Judge Barbara Lagoa, a Cuban American whose family fled Cuba following the revolution that brought Fidel Castro to power. Lagoa’s legal and judicial service spans the Florida court system, from Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District
of Florida to the Florida Supreme Court. The president appointed her to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last December. In a Fox and Friends call-in interview, the president said, “She’s excellent. She’s Hispanic. She’s a terrific woman from everything I know. I don’t know her. Florida. We love Florida.” The Washington Post reported that colleagues, scholars and friends describe Lagoa as “quiet and collegial with shrewd political instincts.” According to several White House sources, the president has no peer when it comes to “shrewd political instincts,” which knocked Lagoa out of contention.
The president also considered Shannon Bream, a blonde bombshell American lawyer and journalist for Fox News from Tallahassee, Florida. While attending Liberty University, she won the beauty-pageant title Miss Virginia in 1990. In 1995, she placed fourth in the Miss USA Pageant where she met Donald Trump. Reportedly, he was turned on by her swimsuit and gown competitions, remarking, “What a young and beautiful piece of ass.” Bream mysteriously fell off the Supreme Court shortlist after Ivanka Trump learned of her candidacy.
This story will be updated if the president changes his mind.
