INTRODUCTION

THE BRIEF

The brief stated that we must design a manual french press and
coffee grinder as part of a collection influenced by a designer
from a list of 20. With this design we must consider correct
dimensions for snap fitting, sketching, 3D modelling, prototyping
and branding.

FIRST IMPRESSION

Coffee is extremely popular around the world, and while i am not
a common coffee drinker, i was still excited about this project.
With a three month duration to complete this project i first
thought i would struggle to complete in time because we had to
design two products. Time management is where i needed to set
out a plan to follow to make sure i could complete it in time.
I struggled to find a designer because they all have their own
unique style and philosophy and it was difficult chosing one that
i could resonate with when narrowing them down, but i finally
found one.

CHOOSING A DESIGNER

After researching 20 designers i was impressed with Kenya Hara.
Once i narrowed them down he stood out from the rest, with his
use of natural materials, minimal and symplistic style, and the
challenge of incorporating the Japanese culture.
