HEADPHONES
Archived products show a varying
design language. One thing that
carries through is the use of materials
and colouring. Products are nearly
all made up 2 to 3 colours or finishes.
The orange and black colourways
are found far back in the company
roots and archived products.
The products show a wider array
of manufacturing capabilities from
their current range, with varying forms,
finishes and headphone styles.
This shows the company is willing to
change and innovate within their field.
Urushi lacquer is also seen throughout
archived products, with alternative
finishes (see green finish), showing
that these traditional methods
can be manipulated.
SPEAKERS
Fostex speaker systems all the way back
through the archives have taken the
form of robust and blocky systems.
Some innovation has come through
in material selecton and finishes,
oering fibreglass woofers and
glossy enclosure finishes.
Fostex is at its heart a parts
manufacturer for speaker
builders. This seems evident studying
their product lines, as the simple
blocky form factors seem to highlight
the importance of the internal
components, rather than flashy
overstated styling.
Branding is kept to a minimum, oering a
logo placement once or twice per
product, coupled with the 1 or 2
colour combination finishes seen
acorss the board.
