DEFINITION Chapter 3: Definition
Designing the Approach
Steps in the Next Process
The analysis and findings collected from the literature review highlight significant insights into the pet adoption and
dog training app market, driving the hypothesis for developing a new training application, informative brochures,
or an awareness campaign.
• User Personas Development: Creating a user empathy map, detailed user per-sonas, and their user goals to
better understand the target audience and their specific needs.
• Ideation Stage: Brainstorming ideas for each possible design solution - an app, brochure, and an awareness
campaign, including design ideations and scope of solutions for each idea.
• App Prototype Development: Designing a prototype of the proposed app, incorpo-rating personalised training
plans, pet care information, community features, gamification/reward system, easy connectivity with professional
training coaches, and valuable information regarding local pet-related resources including veterinary pro-
fessionals.
• Information Brochure Development: Designing a prototype of the proposed bro-chure, incorporating rescue
pet information, pet care needs, pet ownership responsibilities, training techniques, support services, pet
adoption procedures, profes-sional contacts (vets, shelters, etc.), and a possible vaccination card to stay up to
date with their pet’s medical record.
• Awareness Campaign Development: Designing a prototype of the proposed awareness campaign, using
social media, possibly Instagram as it promotes pet trends and suits younger female demographics, to promote
awareness of pet-related events, rescue shelters and local resources, promoting the importance of saving
animal lives and pet training, and encouraging pet adoption using call-to-action headlines.
• Finalising a Design Solution: Once the researcher has finalised the direction of a design solution, she will
note the design criteria and begin the process of creating a prototype of the proposed idea.
• Testing and Feedback: Conducting prototype usability testing with target users to gathering feedback for further
refinement before finalising the prototype.
