80% Project Background
Toys matter. They are invaluable objects to aid in our children’s
development. Toy pollution also matters. Almost 80% of toys each
OF TOYS year end up in landfills.
An understanding of how and why so many children’s toys end up in
landfill was the driving force of this project research.
SENT TO As a parent, I see others all around, family and friends trying their
hardest to recycle and pass on their children’s unused toys in an
effort to be sustainable. My assumption is that parents don’t want
LANDFILL to see their children’s unused toys going to waste and ending up in
landfill so there was a need to investigate why this statistic is so high
EACH YEAR and ultimately what are the barriers preventing parents from
achieving their sustainability goals.
Discovering and defining what these problems are through research
will help to form an interactive solution that could aid parents in their
toy sustainability efforts.
