Audio Technica has a wide range of
both wired and wireless headphone
and earbud sets. I am focusing on
their headphone range as it is more
dominent within their overall product
range and follows a specific design
style. The product breakdown has
been undertaken on the Audio Techni-
ca ATH-M50x monitor headphones.
They feature 45mm Neodymium driv-
ers with copper-clad aluminum voice
coils that provide an extended fre-
quency response from 15 Hz to 28
kHz.The headphones have a cir-
cumaural around-the-ear design that
provides sound isolation in loud envi-
ronments. The ATH-M50x's ear cups
can be swiveled 90 degrees, allowing
for single-ear monitoring. The head-
phones have a detachable single-sid-
ed cable system and include a 3-me-
ter coiled cable, a 3-meter straight
cable, and a 1.2-meter straight cable.
Audio 07
Technica
In the early 1960s at Tokyo’s Bridgestone
Museum of Art, curator Hideo Matsushita
hosted LP listening concerts, where people
would experience vinyl records played on
high-quality audio equipment. Matsushita was
moved by the positive reactions guests had to
the music, and so in 1962, Matsushita founded
Audio-Technica with the vision of producing
high-quality audio for everyone. Following this
“Always Listening” vision, he soon created the first truly affordable
phono cartridge, the AT-1, in the company’s
small flat in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Building on their
passion for listening, Audio Technica have
grown to design critically acclaimed head-
phones, turntables and microphones, remaining
a family business and retaining the belief that
high-quality audio should be accessible to all.
