CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
The problem consists of creating and implementing
a sustainable parking system for SETU Carlow by
WHAT? enhancing the users interaction experience and
promote a more accessible environment for faculty
members, staff and students
Such project was chosen due to the pressing
WHY? interaction issue of parking availability in SETU
Carlow. Such system design opportunity was tackled
using a user-centered approach
ABSTRACT
Creating a sustainable parking system is fundamental in todays’ society, especially in towns
where people commute to work. Being successful helps the users’ quality of life by having
a positive interaction in that place or business, especially when users spend more time in
their working environment compared to home. Today, people want a stress-free environment,
things to move quickly and efficiently, where time should be more manageable and
productive. Hence, having an efficient parking system in place is key to helping users feel
that they are part of an inclusive and accessible environment. Emerging technologies can
help in producing innovative solutions to solve such interaction problems.
