           Martine Bedin is a French architect and                                    -By, MARTINE BEDIN
           designer born in 1957.
           Her design philosophy is that she believes
           design should be playful, optimistic and
           human centred.

           She sees objects almost as companions, that
           these objects should bring character and
           presence into your daily life.

           She also advocates for mixing art and craft
           with industrial production.

           Some of the materials she uses include
           ceramics and laminates. She also uses

           metals, focusing on designing furniture for

                                                                                                                             Martine Bedin was a key figure in
                                                                                                                             Memphis Milano - founded by Ettore
                                                                                                                             Sottsass in 1981. The group designed
                                                                                                                             postmodern furniture, rejecting the strict
                                                                                                                             modernist rules of “form follows
                                                                                                                             function”. Martine pushed the boundaries
