Foreword
Becoming a parent is filled with emotions, a transition of
great joy but behind the celebrations, many parents face
feelings of loneliness, finding themselves isolated at a time
where support is needed more than ever.
This process book documents the full research and design
journey undertaken to address the problem of loneliness
and the struggle that many parents encounter when trying
to connect with others. Connecting Parents: Enhancing
individual and community connections to improve
postpartum wellbeing is a parent centered project guided
by real world experiences. Through extensive desk and field
research the project captures a growing need for flexible
and welcoming spaces to allow parents to connect. This
project explores how design can help rebuild connection and
empower parents to feel more supported and confident as
they navigate the early years of parenthood.
