MENTORING MAKES ME

SMILE!

The Mentoring Program is the signature program of
the International Membership Committee. Soror
Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, Supreme Basileus, has
deemed the mentoring program as the signature event
for Membership and we will have yearly
opportunities to compete. She has also noted that
“Mentoring is important as we continue to move the
Sorority’s service program and sisterhood forward.
A good mentor is invaluable and crucial to the
development and future growth of our service and
sisterhood mission

The objectives of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Mentoring program are as follows:

 To encourage Sorors to grow personally and professionally and increase their leadership
capabilities.

 To promote a learning environment that will encourage Sorors to embrace a responsibility
for the protection of the Sorority and its cultural, historic and physical properties.

 To communicate to Sorors the seriousness of the vows and the commitment they carry by
developing relationships based on caring, sharing and transfer of knowledge.

 To enrich the membership experience of sorors through the establishment of an internal
support system focused on continuous learning within Alpha Kappa Alpha.

 To foster sisterly relations and the conduct of sisterly behavior.

Again Sorors, stay constantly “connected” with your mentee as MISSED CONNECTIONS
HINDER LIFELONG ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP.

EGO’s Mentoring Program, The Mentor-Mentee Connection, was launched in 2015.
Mentor/Mentee assignments are appointed by the Basileus. We have embraced the Sisterly
Relations “AKAPals” as our Graduate Mentoring Program; however, if any EGO Soror desires a
mentor or a mentee, please let our Basileus know.
