Children’s Mental Health week
During February we celebrated Children’s Mental Health week with a variety of work- shops and activities highlighting this important topic in PSHEE. Students in Year 10 had a series of workshops with our School Psychologist, Dr. Charlotte Longley, discuss- ing topics such as physical symptoms and causes of stress and anxiety, strategies for healthier coping with these when they come up as well as low mood state, depression and other mental stressors.
Y7 and Y8 also had special workshops with Dr. Jana Soukupová where they tried out the special skill of skipping rope in groups. Highlighting the theme of the week which was making meaningful connections with others and how these are beneficial to our mental health and wellbeing. There was lots of laughter and positive energy in the room when we were all trying out the jumping!
Finally students in Y9 helped run a Bake Sale to raise money for Fokus Praha and it was great to see students doing something positive to help raise awareness and support
for those who may not have the same access to mental health support as we do. We are already looking forward to next year’s celebration!

Czech Updates
Since Christmas time, we have been looking at the work of the poet Jan Skácel and his collection Smuténka in our Czech and Czech literature lessons with Y12.
We were surprised and delighted by how professionally and responsibly the students approached the analysis of the poems and how popular the poetry of this brilliant poet was with our students. Their final task was to work in groups or individually to create their own poems inspired by Skácel’s work.

In March our talented students prepared fictitious interviews between journalists and Napoleon Bonaparte.The interviews are proof of the high level of creativity, his- torical knowledge as well as a fine sense of the Czech language! Bravo! Have a look at them on the school’s Parent Portal.
