who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the

profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the

word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to

another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to
another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues,

to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these
things, distributing to each one individually as He wills."
These gifts (like all bestowed upon the church) are given to benefit the body of

Christ, not the individual. The nine (9) gifts of the Holy Spirit can be broken down
into three (3) categories:
Revelation gifts:

 Word of knowledge
 Word of wisdom
 Discerning of spirits
Power Gifts:
 Gift of faith
 Gift of working of miracles
 Gift of healing
Vocal Gifts:
 Diverse kinds of tongues

 Interpretation of tongues
 Prophecy

Why do I devote an entire chapter to spiritual gifts in a book about disciples?
What does one truly have to do with the other? A great deal! Based on countless

hours of counseling with men and women in the body of Christ, I have come to
several conclusions. One of those conclusions deals with the common problem of
frustration. Many, many, many brothers and sisters come into the counseling office
frustrated. Their frustration manifests through various sources, marital issues,

interpersonal problems, professional disappointment etc. Underlying many of these
issues is a common denominator… That common denominator is the frustration that
comes from not knowing your spiritual gifts, and as a result, not functioning in the

body as you should. There develops uneasiness in their spirit from moving and
functioning outside God's will. I am not in any way suggesting this is done
intentionally. In the vast majority of the cases, the individuals do not realize the
source or cause of their frustration. In many cases they don't
