even recognize the symptom of frustration, but only see its' outworking.
We need to understand a fundamental spiritual truth... we were created to serve
and please God! Not self, spouse, church or ministry. Matthew 28:20 clearly and
simply state the mission of Christ. We, as disciples, are to follow in His footsteps
and do the same...
"In the same way, the Son of man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and
give His life as a ransom for many people."
Matthew 6:33 is also a pivotal scripture for the disciple and speaks clearly to the
priority we are called to...
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be
added to you."
When we deviate from this truth, our lives are out of balance. Remember also
that true balance is spirit, soul and body (our triune nature) ALL being submitted
to and working in accordance with the plan God has for our individual lives. God did
NOT take the approach "one size fits all!" He has created each of us unique and
gifted us differently.
Previously I mentioned the Ephesians gifts, or Five Fold ministry gifts which are
th
found in Ephesians 4:11. Rarely is the 12 verse quoted or discussed however. It is
absolutely key to the disciple making process though, and brings great amplitude
to the ministry gifts.
"for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of
Christ,"
This verse clearly brings us to the function or purpose of the gifts (all gifts). It is
for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of
the body of Christ.
The process is this:
1. The gifts equip the saints.
2. The saints then serve.
3. The body is then built up.
The three-step process referenced immediately above can very easily describe
the "discipling" process! It is a process of duplication and multiplication. "The
saints serving" really represents the saints going out and sharing what they have
