                               Executive Director’s Report

he year is winding down and we are all preparing to begin 2021 and
will make assumptions on logistics for it like never in our past. With
Tthis the FPGA has not decided on the spring meeting and we are
planning for a July convention. Our President Kevin and First Lady Sandy
Bahr are visiting the property to think through an event where we can all
enjoy each other’s company and relax.
From the last edition of this I continue to work between the Florida Pro-
pane Gas Association and the Florida Natural Gas Association to slow any
movement in Florida that would try to prohibit gas use. We have already
seen the first attempt with Tampa City Council proposing to end new gas
connections immediately and prohibit all fossil fuels in the city limits in
2030, thankfully that was tabled but there is much to be done before they
come back for a final agenda item in March. This is a task that is on my dai-
Dale Calhoun, ly checklist for some time into the future. If you would like to help and have
FPGA Executive Director good personal relationships with local and state elected leaders, please let
me know and I would appreciate having you as part of a grassroots effort.
On the state level of this front, we have legislation in bill drafting and spon-
sors secured with House and Senate leadership support. The legislative
                                      season will be busy.
I want to thank all our instructors and my staff for the first ever virtual
Safety School. This event was very well attended, seamless (on the out-
side), and went off without a hitch. The students asked lots of questions
and were very appreciative at the end of the school. In the future, we will
probably include a virtual side to the school but also to all our events for
those individuals that cannot travel for some reason. As the executive
director of the FPGA my goal is to provide you all the best experience and
interaction and we are learning so many new ways to provide a quality ben-
efit for everyone. Thank you to everyone for your support to the associa-
tion, I look forward to more successes together in 2021. Stay safe!

                                      Sincerely,
                                      Dale
