Kota Kapur / Kota Kapur Inscription
Prasasti Kota Kapur berbentuk tugu segi enam yang
mengecil di bagian puncaknya. Pada permukaannya
terukir huruf-huruf beraksara Pallawa dan berbahasa
melayu kuno. Prasasti ini dibuat sebagai sumpah
sekaligus kutukan bagi siapa saja yang berbuat jahat
dan tidak tunduk dan setia kepada kedatuan Sriwijaya.
Sumpah dan kutukan tersebut berangka tahun 608 Saka
pada tanggal 1 paro terang bulan Waisakha di batas
kekuasaan Sriwijaya yang sangat berusaha menaklukan
Bhumi Jawa yang tidak tunduk kepada Sriwijaya.
The Kota Kapur Inscription is a hexagonal pillar
that tapers at the top. Its surface bears letters in
the Pallava script and Old Malay language. It was
created as an oath and a curse against anyone
who does wrong and refuses to be obedient and
loyal to the Sriwijaya realm. The oath and curse
are dated 608 Saka, on the first bright fortnight of
the month of Vaisakha, at the frontier of
Sriwijaya’s power during efforts to subdue the
island of Java, which did not submit to Sriwijaya.
