EXTRACT "CLITEA" AS A NATURAL UV PROTECTOR

Abstract:

This research aims to find out the best sunscreen formulation so that it can
maintain and protect the skin from sun exposure by using natural ingredients.
This study is an experimental research with the aim of exploring and
determining the optimal formula of the sunscreen extract preparation of telang
flower so that it can evaluate the impact of its use. The sample in this study is
2 samples with 6 tests. Namely organoleptic testing, dispersion test, application
power test, pH test, homogeneity test, visual test, and application power test.
The results of the study showed that formulation B with a concentration of 10
ml of telang flower extract was the best formulation. Based on the questionnaire
that has been distributed, respondents answered that Clitea sunscreen extract
is effective and comfortable to use. In addition, the content in telang flowers
contains compounds such as flavonoids and anthocyanins, which function as
antioxidants so they have the potential to be natural sunscreens. Extra VCO
(Virgin Coconut Oil) can be used as a moisturizer, high antioxidants as well as
these compounds can absorb UV radiation, so they are effective in protecting
the skin from sun exposure. Then, active substances such as telang flowers
also have phenolic content that can increase the ability to protect against UV
damage.
