Depending on the object to be hung from the lanyard,
                sometimes the item must be strung onto the cord prior to
                the tying of the knot. Sometimes the object can be tied to
                the fixed loop by way of a girth (or ring) hitch (see page
                98). Enthusiasts will notice that this knot is a relative of the
                carrick bend. Though it appears complex to tie, it’s really
                not that difficult; just have patience tightening the knot.
