April 2020
Recently, robots and autonomous systems becomes parts of our daily life.
Usage of drones and autonomous service robots tends to grow larger in the market.
However, latency and delay are crucial when it comes to control and communicate
with flying drone and robots in real-time. Usage of 5G network for communication
can have very latency and delay. Therefore, the objective of this project is to use 5G
network to control drone and autonomous robot. Though 5G module for
development is not available in the market yet, which make implementing 5G on
drone and robots is almost impossible. This project is then focusing on using 5G
network through 5G mobile phone that is connected to the robot instead. The
research is done only on mobile robot. As a result, we can use 5G network to
remotely control autonomous robot in real-time. The latency of the communication
through 5G network is very close to that when directly connecting through Wifi
internet.
