Team DDS Helps Fulfill Maddie’s
Hugs for Hope Wish
Hugs for Hope is a group in Lowndes County giving assistance to pediatric cancer families in South Georgia.
Madeline (Maddie) Pitts 9pictured above) has cancer – the same disease that killed her sister a few years ago.
When our partners at the State Patrol in Valdosta reached out about Maddie’s wish to receive a driver’s license,
of course, Team DDS made it happen! While Maddie is not eligible for a driver’s license, her parents worked
with District Manager Donna James, Manager Denisa Smiley and Assistant Manager Michael Carter (pictured
above) at the Valdosta CSC to make a “pretend” driver’s test happen. Maddie completed a pre-test vehicle
inspection after hours and then was issued a GA ID Card. They all posed for first driver photos with Mom and
Dad cringing at handing over the keys! While it was all make believe, it went a long way to boost Maddie’s
morale, and we’re sure she will be telling her nurses and doctors about her driver’s test experience from the
nice people at the Valdosta CSC. Thanks for helping this special customer Team Valdosta!
