Reg Comp: Launches New
Military Waiver Process

Regulatory Compliance has launched a new military
commercial vehicle waiver process -- the Even Exchange
Program -- endorsed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration (FMCSA). This program enables qualified
Service Occupational Classifications from the Army, Navy
and Air Force to be exempt from the knowledge test
for obtaining a CDL. When used with the Military Skills
Test Waiver, this allows the qualified military commercial
driver to exchange a military license for a CDL with no
testing. This makes it easier and less expensive for them
to obtain their CDL and enter this important industry.
Brian Cox, CDL Manager in Regulatory Compliance and
his Team manage this effort. Since the program was
launched on April 15th, twenty service members and
veterans have taken advantage of this waiver program.

   Riders Beware of Getting Overheated

I know there are a few DDS Team Members who enjoy hitting the open road on a
motorcycle during their free time or riding to and from work! Please take heed of
the important message from the Motorcycle Safety Program about gearing up for
hot weather. Contrary to what you may think, it's important to stay suited up with
complete gear as the hot weather continues.
When the temperature rises, motorcyclists should keep their gear on, not take it
off. Wearing protective gear is only one precaution cyclists may take when the
Georgia sun shines too hot. Others include:
                                         • Consider trips at higher elevations
                                         • Take breaks frequently in the shade/air conditioning
                                         • Drink plenty of water but stay away from alcohol
                                         • Remember to Eat
                                         • Stay insulated with boots, heavy gloves, thick jacket
                                         • Add a wet neck collar
District Manager Eric Mitchell will add his gloves and helmet before he cranks up!
