THE SCOOP JANUARY 2022

     EVEN EXCHANGE PROGRAM ADDED TO
     CDL MILITARY WAIVER SERVICES
An additional military commercial vehicle waiver service
was added—the Even Exchange Program—endorsed by
the FMCSA. This program enables qualified service occupa-
tional classifications from the Army, Navy and Air Force to be
exempt from the knowledge test for obtaining a CDL. When
used with the Military Skills Test Waiver, this allows drivers to
exchange a military commercial license in an easier and less
     expensive manner.

     PROOF OF SCHOOL ENROLLMENT
     DOCUMENTS EXPANDED
To accommodate teenage drivers affected by COVID-19
school closures, DDS has expanded the list of acceptable
documents for mandatory proof of school enrollment.
Typically, only a DDS Certificate of Enrollment form was ac-
ceptable and needed to be signed and notarized from the
student’s school and presented at the time of applying for a
permit or Class D driver’s license. DDS expanded the list to
accept additional documents including transcripts, report
     cards and school IDs.

     EXPANDED COMMERCIAL VEHICLE TESTING OPTIONS
DDS is making it easier for customers to receive a commer-
cial vehicle road test by increasing the number of third-party
     testing locations statewide.

     VIRTUAL ROAD TESTING PILOT
A successful pilot program was conducted to test new
cameras designed to enhance the contactless road test
experience for team members and customers. DDS is using
the latest driver-facing and road-facing camera technology
mounted on the dashboard of the customer’s vehicle and a
map to follow a pre-set route. The team member monitors
the test from the safety of the CSC. 961,248

     REMOTE SERVICES Total Online Transactions
A positive outcome from the COVID-19 Emergency has been Completed in
the growing popularity of DDS Online Services and the free
mobile app DDS2 GO. As more customers become Real ID FY 2021
compliant and a new process for allowing age 64 and over
customers to renew online or by mail, there should be no
reason that anyone should need to visit in person for a regu-
     lar license/ID renewal.
