RiderCoach Annual Update
& Performance Development Workshop
More than 105 private and Agency
RiderCoaches attended the 2019 Annual
Update and Performance Development
Workshop on Saturday, March 2, 2019
at the DDS HQ Office. This was a
big increase over the previous year
attendance, and the information provided
was very favorably received. Holly Hegyesi
has been the Georgia Motorcycle Safety
Program (GMSP) Manager for only a few
months, but she orchestrated a very
successful event. The Team that is under
the Regulatory Compliance Division also
recently added a new Communication & Outreach Specialist, Robin Patterson-Hill.
As both riders and instructors, RiderCoaches teach motorcyclists to ride safely. This important day
enables the attendees to refresh their knowledge while interacting with other coaches. According
to one participant, “Time well spent. Best annual update I’ve been to. Job well done!” said Kent
Waits, DDS RiderCoach. The RiderCoaches also heard administrative program updates, an Adult
Learning presentation, Quality Assurance information from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation
and a special guest speaker from Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program, one of the top motorcycle
safety programs in the nation. The Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program RiderCoaches also took to
the asphalt to show off their skills at the Falcon’s Fury Harley Davidson training course. Coaches
demonstrated their ability to perform the types of maneuvers that they teach in their Basic Rider
Courses. According to one participant, the group wants more range time for next year! “Loved the
range work by Michele Owen. Would have been nice to have had more time on the range!” Karl
Snell, MSF RiderCoach. Plans for next year are already underway to include a bigger meeting site
and increased range time. Good job Team!
