Rise in Online/App Numbers
If you like to make lemonade out of lemons,
one positive outcome from the pandemic
is that DDS Online Services has gained
momentum!
Hundreds of thousands of Georgia drivers
are obtaining licensing services safely and
conveniently during the COVID-19 Public
Health Emergency without visiting in
person.
Since March, DDS Online and DDS 2 GO
transactions have increased nearly 110%
with over 338,376 customers receiving
services from the convenience of their
home or office.
The Contact Center and IT play an
important role in supporting Online
Services. It takes Team Work!
Commissioner Moore Under the Gold Dome
thanked the Team
for pulling together This year’s Legislative Session was a challenge because of COVID-19 and the con-
to help get these densed schedule/breaks in Session. Despite the challenges, its rare that EVERY
important initiatives legislative item that the agency pursued was achieved. It includes:
approved. •Digital (Electronic) DL/ID – Georgia now has a law that allows for the provisioning
of driver’s licenses and identification cards on mobile devices.
•Certified Mail – DDS has pursued this legislation for some time. We now have the
ability to NOT send some notices certified mail and send them via certificate of mail-
ing which costs significantly less.
•Human Trafficking – This law specifically lays out penalties that imposes a lifetime
disqualification for a CDL driver if convicted of this crime.
•Reciprocity – While this was not an original DDS bill, it does enhance the agency’s
ability to establish reciprocal agreements with foreign political subdivisions that are
not necessarily a Country. Eg. Taiwan, Canadian Provinces.
