thanked the Team
for pulling together This year’s Legislative Session was a challenge because of COVID-19 and the con-
to help get these densed schedule/breaks in Session. Despite the challenges, its rare that EVERY
important initiatives legislative item that the agency pursued was achieved. It includes:
approved. •Digital (Electronic) DL/ID – Georgia now has a law that allows for the provisioning
of driver’s licenses and identification cards on mobile devices.
•Certified Mail – DDS has pursued this legislation for some time. We now have the
ability to NOT send some notices certified mail and send them via certificate of mail-
                       ing which costs significantly less.
•Human Trafficking – This law specifically lays out penalties that imposes a lifetime
disqualification for a CDL driver if convicted of this crime.
•Reciprocity – While this was not an original DDS bill, it does enhance the agency’s
ability to establish reciprocal agreements with foreign political subdivisions that are
not necessarily a Country. Eg. Taiwan, Canadian Provinces.
