Successes
DDS and DOR received funding from the Georgia General Assembly for the funding to create a customer centric
Enterprise Solution to support each agency’s DMV functions. After a competitive bidding process, the contract was
awarded to Fast Enterprises, LLC, an industry leader with a proven track record of on-time and on-budget delivery
completing projects both in the State of Georgia and across the nation. The DRIVES (Driver Record and Integrated
Vehicle Enterprise System) project was initiated to modernize the current DOR Tag & Title system and the DDS Driver’s
License system.
• Mobile Services App
DDS partnered with Georgia-based Scope IT Consulting to develop a new Mobile App which will prove to be
revolutionary in how DDS and its customers are able to communicate. The new Mobile App, which is projected for
launch in late 2017 or early 2018, will not only provide customers access to many of the already existing web-based
services DDS offers, but also allow customers to receive direct and personalized push alerts when their driver’s license
status changes.
• Governor’s Criminal Justice Reform
DDS and the GA Department of Corrections (GDC) Transitional Services created a process to verify data and administer
identification cards to eligible, rehabilitated citizens prior to their release. The ultimate goal of this project is to provide
a form of identification to all citizens prior to returning to society. In addition, DDS partners with DJJ to provide road
testing for select students who have completed the required driver training.
• Emergency Response
DDS Team Members quickly rallied to help those in emergency weather areas by donating supplies, checking on fellow
team members and volunteering in the community.
• Strategic Hiring Practices
Incorporated the Predictive Index (hire for fit) survey assessment tool to ensure that the Agency is recruiting the best
fit for each job description.
• Vehicle Registration (Tag) Renewal Kiosk Pilot
In partnership with DOR, a kiosk for customers to renew their vehicle tag was installed in the Locust Grove, Henry
County, Customer Service Center. As most customers’ vehicle registration and driver’s license expiration is tied to the
birth date, this makes renewal of these two important processes very convenient.
• Website Redesign
DDS launched a redesigned agency website at www.dds.georgia.gov. The website has a fresh, contemporary look and
is easier for customers to navigate while locating valuable driver’s licensing information. Website improvements also
include clarifying content and adding consistent navigation at each page header. In addition, the new format is
compatible with smartphones and tablets by automatically reformatting to the device being used. The site now
accommodates persons with a range of hearing and vision disabilities.
• Creation of a Motorcycle Safety Program Advisory Board
A seven (7) member Advisory Committee was created to assist with decisions concerning the Georgia Motorcycle
Safety Program (GMSP). Members represent both the rider and the non-rider community and serve for twenty-four
(24) months/two (2) year terms.
