The bird and the fig
When a fig ripened enough, the wind blew, shook the twig so hard and threw it down to
the ground! When it opened its eyes, it saw around it a large green plain, with hills, streams
with clear waters, and a lake! Suddenly he saw a bird biting it. But, what are you doing, said the
bird? If I do not eat your seeds, the worm you see in the next fig will come and make holes in
your beautiful sides. You want this; said the bird. Of course not, said the fig. Listen my dear
friend if you let me eat your seeds I will have you in me too and when we travel together I will
leave a few of your seeds in these places you love so that you can become a tree and live for
many years. The fig, after thinking it over, opened itself in two and revealed its beautiful seeds.
